Definition and Nature of Work

As an IT Field Support Technician with J.P. Schwartz, Inc. DBA EdTech Fusion you will have a unique opportunity as the primary on-site and remote technician in a small business environment, with 12+ years in business,  who’s employees span 4 seperate states. You will be responsible to install, maintain and repair computers and networks. You will ensure that adequate IT infrastructure is in place and is used to its maximum capabilities.

IT Field Support Technician is a vital role in our small business success.  Having a positive attitude, being flexible with requests from upper management, an ability to respond to client requests within short notice, desire to learn new skills and competencies, are a necessary part of this role.  Due to the remote nature of this position and the company’s flex schedule work environment, in order to be a successful part of the J.P. Schwartz team, you will need to have excellent time management skills, be very self-disciplined and driven to provide excellence to the client and the company.

In addition, you will be responsible for ensuring client projects and maintenance requests are properly bid, scheduled and documented so that deliverables are met on time, within acceptance criteria, and within JP Schwartz company resource limits for comfortable growth, workload, and profits.  

You are expected to maintain client satisfaction, provide quality customer service, engage in a positive manner with vendors, as well as test for and hold certifications for certain competencies or vendor requirements.  

 

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

The following is a list of tasks and responsibilities that your job as an IT Field Support Technician may entail; this list may not be comprehensive and will be updated as needed.

 

Technical and Engineering

 Installing, configuring, maintaining, upgrading, and resolving conflicts on computer networks to include the servers, workstations, laptops, desktops, and related hardware.

 Install well-functioning LAN/WAN and other networks and manage components

 Maintain and repair technological equipment (e.g. routers, firewalls, access points) or peripheral devices.

 Install and configure software and operating systems.

 Manage security options and software in computers and networks to maintain privacy and protection from attacks.

 Troubleshoot system failures or bugs and provide solutions to restore functionality.

 Track and prioritize workload from ticket board in ConnectWise Manage platform.

 Provide billable Information Technology service work to clients; either on-site or remotely.

 Provide accurate, detailed, and complete documentation of each project.

 Maintain knowledge of current standards and technologies.

 Looking for opportunities to add on sales to existing projects.

 Occasional travel outside of the Denver/Boulder area for client projects.

 Occasional travel for training and development.

 Research technology as needed for complex problem or design resolutions.

 Create and maintain accurate and complete project plans as needed.

 Create and review hardware, software, and labor proposals for clients.

 Coordinate employees and subcontractors to ensure timely project completion.

 Contribute to the growth and development of employees and the company.

 Contribute to internal system, process, and position development, workflow, or documentation.

 Assist Sales by meeting with new and existing customers to determine IT needs and propose solutions.

 Contribute to technical content on the J.P. Schwartz, Inc. website or newsletters.

 Maintain and update opportunities and client information in ConnectWise

 Build initial resource impact report as part of bid process for new projects and clients.

 

Qualifications

 Ability to pass pre-employment background check  

 Possess reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license in order to travel to various client sites.

 Possess the ability to work from a home office (telecommute) with a high-speed internet connection.

 Possess one or more of the following current certifications or equivalent:

     CompTIA A+,  CompTIA Security+,  CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified Professional

 5 years working in a technical support role with on Microsoft Windows desktops or servers

 3 years working with LAN/WAN and wireless networks

 1-year working with firewalls, filtering services, and related organization-wide security solutions

 1-year providing remote support – preference for ConnectWise Automate (LabTech) platform

 1-year managing projects and budgets.

 Availability to answer emergency client calls with short notice and within a reasonable time frame.

 Availability to work some evenings and weekends as warranted by projects and workload.

 Ability to complete work orders as work is completed before moving on to the next task.

Salary and Benefits

Range $45,000-$55,000 / year

Flex Schedule, Remote Work Environment

3 Weeks Paid Time Off / Year
